Where are my Blogger videos?
-
I imported my blog from Blogger. None of the videos in my Blogger posting were imported and it would be a huge task to add each one.
How can this be fixed?

If the videos were personally uploaded video files, they are not part of the import process.
If that is the case, you’ll also need a VideoPress upgrade to upload them: http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/
If these were YouTube videos (or videos from a similar service), would you please provide us with a link to a post on Blogger that had the video and a link to the same post here without the video?
-
Thanks. They were all videos from YouTube.
Here is a posting on Blogger: http://michaelhasenstab.blogspot.com/2011/02/interesting-story.html
And the same posting imported to WordPress: http://michaelhasenstab.wordpress.com/2011/02/23/an-interesting-story/
The videos are gone, and notice that the paragraphing is also gone.

I have some questions.
Did you import from Blogger using the authorization method (not file upload)?
The original post contains many div tags instead of p (paragraph) tags – this seems to be causing the issue for paragraph break on WordPress.com side.
Is this happening on all posts or just some of them? If the latter is true, do you remember posting them in any different way from others? -
I imported from Blogger using the import method on WordPress’s site.
The paragraph issue seems to be present on only one posting – the one I linked. That one was originally posted in a different Blogger account, copied and pasted into my Blogger account.
The non-importing of YouTube videos from Blogger to WordPress appears in many, if not all, imported postings.

Copying and pasting styled text from another platform or site may not To fix the paragraph issue on he one post, I suggest doing these:
1. clear all styles using the button #7 on your 2nd row of Visual Editor:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(Second row will appear when you click the rightmost button)2. Add styles using the visual editor.
I am seeing some of the YouTube videos appearing correctly. For example:
https://michaelhasenstab.wordpress.com/2010/02/13/tony-bennett-and-kd-lang/
https://michaelhasenstab.wordpress.com/2010/01/18/sunday-sunday-sunday/Did you manually fix them, or are these posted differently than the ones that are not working?
-
1. I have highlighted all of the text in that posting and applied the ‘erase format’ button (#7, row 2, as suggested. I then attempted to re-format the posting to add paragraph separation. It appeared to work in edit mode, but not when viewed. I’m stymied!
2. I have not fixed any of the YouTube videos, nor have I tinkered with them.
-
1. Please look at your post http://michaelhasenstab.wordpress.com/2011/02/23/an-interesting-story/ in the HTML editor, you will see that all your paragraphs are enclosed in
tags with margins set to 0.
This is why you don’t see any space between your paragraphs, please edit the post in HTML mode and delete the
andtags.
2. Can you confirm wether you can see the Youtube video in these two posts?

1. Heading to work now, will work on the editing tonight.
2. I do see the videos you referenced.
Thank all of you so much for your patience and help. It is a very pleasant experience compared to the non-help your competitor provides!

I have edited the HTML codes in the post as suggested, twice. Both times the preview showed no change in how the paragraphs were formed. What am I doing wrong? I can’t get rid of the HTML stuff on that one particular post.
How are you doing with a solution tot he problem of the disappearing videos?
-
Aha! A little more tinkering and I figured out he paragraph problem.
Now, how do I solve the video problem, short of having to re-insert them one-by-one in some 200 posts?
-
It looks like the videos were originally embedded using YouTube’s embed code, which makes sense, since YouTube = Google and Blogger = Google.
Unfortunately, we can’t provide support for YouTube’s native embed code, as we filter out similar code for security and stability reasons.
In this case, your original embeds were filtered out during the import.
I’m afraid the only solution at this point is to re-embed following the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/
