importing problem – 503service unavailable for 3 days

  This is the third day in a row that I have been unable to import the xml file from a wordpress.com blog into another wordpress.com blog. I have tried at all times of the day but this is the error message I always get:

  503 Service Unavailable
  The server is temporarily busy, try again later! Powered By LiteSpeed Web Server
  Lite Speed Technologies is not responsible for administration and contents of this web site!

  I find it hard to believe that “503 Service Unavailable temporarily busy” can go on for 3 days. Does anyone have any information as to when the service from LiteSpeed Web Server to the importer will be available again?

  I have no idea, but just out of curiosity, how big is the xml file?

  I have the same problem. I am trying to export a wordpress.com blog to a hosted wordpress blog 2.3.1. There is no problem with my file size (280kb) as my upload limit is 2mb.

  What’s happening is that when I go to import the xml file, it’s going into the ‘uploads’ area instead of installing all the posts and pages in the database.

  I’m not a programmer but I’m wondering if it could be a sql database compatibility thing?

  I’ve used the import/export function in the past with no problem only a month ago so I’m wondering what’s going on here.

  Actually we don’t have the same problem. I’m here at wordpress.com with a wordpress.com blog and the contents of the xml file are also from a wordpress.com blog. I have to get support from wordpress.com.

  You need to get support from http://wordpress.org/support

  We have no way of knowing what’s going on until staff tell us when the service from LiteSpeed Web Server to the importer will be available again.

  On importing into the software from .org, you need to ask over at http://wordpress.org/support. There is also an installation guide you can find under downloads over there. There is a quick install and a detailed install.

  The importer is available. There is a bug in the current code that causes a 503 or similar error with some import files. We’re working on a fix.
