Importing problems

  Hi,

  I blog at violetcrush.wordpress.com. I recently bought my own domain booksatvioletcrush.com

  I exported everything from the old blog and imported it to the new one. I’m getting the following errors –
  Failed to import author . Their posts will be attributed to the current user.
  Failed to import post tag

  I notice that there are a lot of images that aren’t imported in the new blog. (I imported attachments as well)

  Please help. How can I fix this?

  I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues.

  Where was your blog before (the site address)? Was it a WordPress blog or a different platform? What format is your import file, and how large is it? Other than the author/tag/attachments, did you receive any other errors upon importing? Did all of your posts and pages come through?

  If your old site is also hosted on WordPress.com, we could simply point the domain to that site. If it’s a site hosted elsewhere, though, that’s not possible.

  Let me know a few more details and I’ll take a look and see what I can figure out for you.

  Thanks for the reply.

  violetcrush.wordpress.com was my first blog so yes it was on wordpress. All of my posts came through, just some of the images haven’t.

  My current blog is booksatvioletcrush.com which I’m having issues importing to.

  The import file is 10.1 mb in xml format

  When I click on upload file and import I got this error – ‘Failed to import author . Their posts will be attributed to the current user.’
  So I assigned the author to booksatvioletcrush.com

  Okay, I understand now. You’re trying to do an export of your violetcrush.wordpress.com to a new self-hosted site.

  I’ve contacted you via email with a new export file. Please let me know how it goes.
