Importing site, but image URLs in posts not updated

I started out in 2008 with a blog on Blogger.com. In January 2011, I moved to my own domain with a WP.org setup, taking my old posts with me. Now, I’m archiving all my posts on a private WP.com site.

When I exported the WP.org site and imported it to WP.com, all the posts worked fine, but for some reason, it only took the media that had been originally uploaded to Blogger.com. The images attached to my more recent posts since 2011 were left behind. I did another import on top of the previous one, which fixed this problem; all the media was properly uploaded this time.

However, the URLs in the posts were not updated. They still linked to images on my own domain, on the WP.org install. I fully deleted the posts from 2011 onward on my new blog (including from the trash), exported only those posts from my old blog, and imported them again.

Unfortunately, it’s the same problem–the posts import just fine, but the image URLs just won’t update to the new locations.

I suspect I’d need to also delete the post-2011 media again to try to force-reupload-and-update everything, but as they all imported under the same date, there’s no way to separate them from the other media. And manually updating hundreds of posts (and having to manually pluck each individual URL from my media library) is not exactly my idea of a good time, either.

So do I have to trash the entire site and start from complete scratch? That’s my next option, but as it’s a hassle, I wanted to check f I was missing anything obvious first.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!
