importing site to wordpress.com
-
1. I have followed the instructions below to import a blog to wordpress.com, however, the result is not a faithful representation of the original. In particular, the theme is missing. Why might this be?
2. From below: “Choose the option to Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files”: how do I do this, i.e. how is this option presented to me (the use) by the site?

Moving from WordPress.org
If you are moving from a self-hosted blog using the WordPress.org software, you can move your blog to our WordPress.com service with the following steps:
Register a WordPress.com account and blog at http://wordpress.com/signup/
In the old blog, go to Tools → Export and download the XML (WXR) file to your computer.
In the new blog (on WordPress.com), go to Tools → Import → WordPress and upload the file you downloaded in step 2. After you upload the file, you can choose the option to Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In particular, the theme is missing. Why might this be?
WordPress.com themes cannot be exported.
-
WordPress.ORG themes cannot be imported and used on free hosted WordPress.COM blogs either.

The only themes you can use on a free hosted WordPress.com blog are those found here > Appearance > Themes and showcased here > http://wordpress.com/themes/ And , there is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that.
