Importing subscribers
-
Hi,
I am creating a new look blog site and have imported content from my old one. I want to update the URL on my new one to be the same as my old one, after I rename my old one to get it out of the way. But I don’t want to lose my email or wordpress subscribers. I have exported my email subscriber list to a CSV but can’t figure out how to easily import it. And I can’t figure out how to export my wordpress subscriber list.To summarize, I want to effectively remove my current site, replace it (with the same URL) with an updated site, and keep all my subscribers, both email and wordpress. Any ideas?
Thanks,
LindaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Linda,
Can you please let me know the address of both your old and new blog so I can have a look and better assist you?

My old site is https://www.bucketdrippings.wordpress.com (don’t ask). I have 47 email subscribers and 12 wordpress subscribers. I have exported the content- posts, pages, media- and imported it into another site, http://www.lgfool.com. That site is now set to private. I switched to a new theme in the second site which I like a lot better. I just want to re-use the public URL of my old site and make sure people don’t have to resubscribe.
Thanks for the help.

If you want to use your previous URL, then you have to move the contents back there and apply the same theme.
In case you want to keep the new blog I can transfer your subscribers there.

OK, I’m a little confused. According to https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL
I can change the site URL. What I was thinking of doing was a) changing the URL of the original site, bucketdrippings.wordpress.com, to something like oldbucket.wordpress.com; b) changing the URL of lgfool.wordpress.com to bucketdrippings.wordpress.com c) once I have verified the functioning of the new bucketdrippings, delete the site oldbucket.wordpress.com.Does that not work?

Howdy –
I think there’s some confusion here about the difference between using the open source WordPress installation and WordPress.com.
The instructional link shared deals with the WordPress installation not what we do here at WordPress.com.
