Importing theme from Woothemes

  Hi

  I’ve just downloaded a woo theme to my desktop. It mentioned on the site that in order to install the theme i need to go my dashboard and then to the Appearance tab then hit the install theme tab. However the install theme tab is missing and i only see the manage themes tab. Please help

  those sound like instructions for a self-hosted install of wordpress. do you have a blog here at wordpress.com? if you are here on wordpress.com you need to select a theme from the portfolia of themes provided. some are premium, some are free.

  I’ve just downloaded a woo theme to my desktop.

  There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins or any themes into them The themes found on the internet are for wordpress.ORG installs which run on different software.

  On free hosted wordpress.COM blogs we can only use the themes which have been coded to run on this multi-user software and made available to us here. > Appearance > Themes and no others. We cannot edit either themes or templates on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

  If you have purchased a premium theme from WordPress.com then note that following please > documentation here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/premium-themes/

  When you purchase a premium theme what comes with that purchase was support directly from the theme designer. If and only if that is what you have done and are referring to please click this link and post to the Premium Themes Forum.

  Are you trying to install a premium theme from WooThemes to your anthonyhebden.wordpress.com blog?

  If so, as @dohman said above, themes can’t be installed on here on WordPress.com. Instead, you can use any of the great themes we have available in our Theme Showcase: http://theme.wordpress.com/

  Which theme from WooThemes were you attempting to install? We have quite a few themes from WooThemes here, so you might try searching the showcase I linked above to see if the theme is available for use on WordPress.com (if it’s a premium theme, you will need to purchase it for use on your site here).

  If you would like to use the theme you downloaded, you will need to do so on a self-hosted WordPress.org blog that you host on your own web space. Please see here for more on the differences (if you haven’t seen it already): http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
