Importing .txt file from Typepad
-
I used the import tool to import a .txt file of my old Typepad blog. I got an email confirmation that it was successful, but all I see is the file in my Media Library.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It sounds like the import tool didn’t actually process your Typepad export file — instead, it just uploaded it as a media file.
A few things to check:
– Make sure you used the Typepad/Movable Type importer, not the generic file upload option.
– Try running the import again by going to Tools → Import → Typepad/Movable Type and uploading the file from there.
You can follow the full step-by-step instructions here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-from-movable-type-and-typepad/
If it still just appears in your Media Library, it means the file wasn’t recognized as a valid Typepad export. In that case, please share the first few lines of the file here (no personal info needed), and we can help confirm whether it’s properly formatted. -
Thank you! I did do that process twice. I got the file yesterday from Typepad–I hadn’t realized they shut down, so I emailed for help and they sent the file. Here are the first few lines:

Hi there! Please email us at support@wordpress.com, ensuring you attach the file that was sent to you by Typepad.
With their servers now shut down and data purged, we’re only able to import the text content from Typepad export files, and would love to help you save as much of your content as possible!
