I have the same issue at worldofskarsgard.wordpress.com

Content is there, the import page is stuck. Can someone unstick it? I have more content to import.

I have reset the importer for both of you. Please try your imports again at any time.

If you continue to have trouble with this, please let me know what kind of export file you have, where your blog was before, and how large a file it is.

    worldofskarsgard.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

And it seems that dragonfey57’s website may be self-hosted, according to this thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/import-email-says-failed-import-from-wp-site-content-shows?replies=2#post-1670298

My worldofskarsgard wordpress never did reset. And all of my photos were hot linked. I did pay for my own domain ion wordpress but due to the above problems and lack of correction I shut wordpress down. I wanted to stop paying for hosting even with loosing a lot of functionality.

Sorry I would have deleted my post had I recalled. I had already stopped hosting my domain thankfully without shutting down the account. So I have been trying to restore it for two days. It kept redirecting here even after canceling the upgrade.

FTP access would have solved all of my issues. I understand your stand but after using WordPress for the last five years I just became frustrated at not being able to fix problems but also not import photos. Something I HIGHLY advise WP make clear on their export page.

My worldofskarsgard wordpress never did reset.

But that is no reason to delete the site entirely. Once a site is deleted, it cannot be recovered and the address cannot be reused.

It would have been helpful had you noted in the other post that you are migrating from a self-hosted WordPress site.

If you are still interested in importing your externally hosted WP site here, then sign up for a new WPcom site and follow these instructions:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/coming-from-self-hosted/ You can then map your domain name to it.

I will agree with you that the information about images is not clear.

On one hand, in the second Support doc I linked to above, it says, “The migration process transfers your content (comments, tags/categories, text, photos, and other embedded media) to your WordPress.com site.” and a little further on it says, “Don’t forget to check the “Download and import file attachments“ box to ensure that your images and other media files will be downloaded from your old host and uploaded to WordPress.com.”

On my test site exporting/importing from WPcom to WPcom, in the Import process here there was no tick box and the Importer gave me this message:

    Import WordPress
    Download Media

If you exported your site’s media files, we’ll import those for you automatically.

but in the export process here on WPcom, there is no option to export one’s media files and hotlinking from one WPcom site to another WPcom site is not a problem here, even if it is not a “best practice”.

Regardless, good luck. If you decide you want to retry the import process, I will tag this for Staff assistance.
