Importing WordPress site to another WordPress site which already contains material

    Hi,

I already read how to export & import WordPress.com sites. My question is, can I combine all the material of two sites without using redirection option? To give an example, if I already have two existing pages, example1.wordpress.com and example2.wordpress.com, can I import example1 to example2 so that I for example get example1 to be one parent page of the site example 2? …or something similar. What if they have different themes in the beginning? Unfortunately I can’t code.

Thank you so much for your help!

    Hi, there.

You can’t actually merge the two sites so that one becomes a parent to the other, but you could certainly set up the navigation menus so that it makes it easy for folks to move back and forth between the sites.

If you don’t want to keep them separate, though, it’s probably less confusion just to import the posts from one to the other, and then close down the one that’s no longer needed.

You could always put a notice up on the old site with a link to the new one rather than an actual redirect.

    I hope this helps.

If you import website a to website b, does the content of website a replace everything from website b? Or does it stack up on one another?

Because I’m importing content from a friend’s website. We’re planning to merge it together, but I’m afraid that if I import the data from his website, everything in my website would be deleted, or anything like that.

One more question, does the post import trigger notification for the subscribers?

    Thank you.
