Importing/Exporting Questions
-
Hello. I’m having issues with creating a member login form for my site and see that the only way I can do that is to switch from wordpress.COM to .ORG for php or plugins.
The thing is, I have already purchased the Premium plan for this wordpress.COM site. I’m kinda shaky with hosting things, so here are my questions:
Can I use WordPress.COM as my host?
If not, what did premium even buy me other than some CSS editing?I have a domain to use but I haven’t set it up with this site yet, do I need an official domain for WordPress.ORG?
I did try the whole import/export with the .ORG plugin downloaded, but all it did was repeat my pages, to my knowledge. So did I just do it wrong?
Obviously I do not really understand what I am doing with this so any help would be appreciated greatly :)

Hi @samplenhnf, at this time we don’t allow plugins on WordPress.com hosted sites. Did you sign up with another host yet?
WordPress.com Premium is a service rather than a traditional web host. It gives you some extra services including chat based support. You won’t need it if you’re moving to your own installation, but if you’d like, while you’ve got Premium, you’d be welcome to get in touch with us via chat so we can help however we can.

So is there anything I can do to simply have a login form for members through WordPress.com or do I really have to switch over everything after paying for premium?

I’d recommend getting in touch here so a Happiness Engineer can talk with you through your options:
