    So I was able to download my old Xanga blog export file, and then run the importer but do not see how I access the files. Please help?

    Hi there,

    As far as I know, WordPress.com currently doesn’t support importing from Xanga
    https://wordpress.com/support/import/#import-from-another-platform

    If you need to import from Xanga, you’ll need to rely on a plug-in. You can find the plug-in by visiting the WordPress.ORG plug-ins directory and search “Xanga”

    However, in order to use plug-ins on your WordPress.com site, you need to subscribe to a Business plan or above, which I’m not sure if that’s what suites you (your site above is a personal blog?)

    An alternative solution is to one of the hosts recommend on WordPress.org . All three providers offers the ability to use plug-ins.

    You actually can import your files from Xanga by following these steps:

    @stevenlinx    , there is no need to use plugins.


    @saia2007    , have you received the confirmation of the import? It might take time if you had a lot of content.

    Ugh.

    1.) The link to “Import from Xanga” page is only on the right sidebar of the “Import” page so I didn’t notice.

    2.) Isn’t the screenshot under the “Import from Another Platform” section outdated? It doesn’t reflect all the capabilities of the current live site.

    So if you simply view the screenshot, you would have concluded the current site doesn’t support import from Xanga, which it does. I would assume there is a high likelihood that users can reach the same conclusion when they see the screenshot.

    @stevenlinx – yes, it looks like that screenshot is out of date on the import support doc. I’ve let the team who updates our documentation know that needs a new screenshot.

    If you’re ever unsure whether or not something is available on WordPress.com, a search of our support documentation will help here. Searching for “Xanga” would have brought up the link staff-mckluskey provided.
