Today I tried to use the URL system to add photos, but it is not working at all.
I was thinking it was relied to the site i was using so i tried at least 4 other site but nothing can be done.

Can someone give me some explanation or a way to deal with this issue.

    Bonjour Laurent
    At the add media page,
https://wordpress.com/media/derrierelacolline.wordpress.com/ look at the top right corner and see if you have space left to add media.
It will look like this: https://cl.ly/3x412q1k1Q11
If the percentage is at or very close to 100%, you will be unable to add media.

If that is the case, you will have to either get rid of some images, or better yet, optimize them so they take up less space. That is discussed in:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/

    best,

    @dekart1982 Hello again!

you will have to either get rid of some images

which will of course PERMANENTLY delete those images from the related post or page that they appear in.

If you wish to add a photo by URL, which is hotlinked and not uploaded to your Media Library, switch over to the HTML Editor Tab of your post or page and click the IMG tag (not the add media button) and paste the URL of the image you want to use. You can then switch back to the Visual Editor and add alignment and a caption, but you can only resize the image by dragging one of the corner “handles” that appears.

Unless the image is hosted somewhere that allows hotlinking and you comply with their terms of service in doing so, in general hotlinking is frowned upon because you are using someone else’s bandwidth to serve your image. It also gives control of that image to whatever site you are hotlinking it from. So if in the future they delete or switch the image to a middle-finger salute, that’s what will display on your site. Something to think about.

Do note however that you cannot hotlink images used in a Gallery or as a Featured image. Those must be uploaded to your site.

I don’t know why a 4 month old site would be nearing its 3GB storage limit, but if it is, you’ll definitely want to consider purchasing the Personal upgrade plan and then start resizing and optimizing images. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Let me know if you have further questions about any of that.

    Hello,

Thank you for all these interesting information.
I did not each my limit yet (50%) more or less. But I’m asking myself the question in advance.
I’m a beginner in blogging question so I did not pay attention to the optimization question. (which im doing right now).

I’ll try to implement photo the way you explained me.

    Again thanks for your help.

    Laurent

    You’re welcome.

You’ll want to read the Quik Specs at the bottom of Rowling’s theme showcase page to see the recommended sizes for images: https://wordpress.com/theme/rowling

You are welcome, and i am happy that you are thinking ahead of time about storage space. 50 percent of 3GB in 4 months! That is something most people never think about until they run out of room.
