impossible to see/add menu/submenu

i want to add menus & sub-menus in INTERGALACTIC 2, but when i go to Customize, Menu, it says “It doesn’t look like your site has any menus yet. Want to build one? Click the button to start.”
that’s contradicting the fact that under MENU i see HOME, CONTACT, BLOG and i created a page that shows up there as well.
i tried adding a Menu, actually an un-clickable parent tab for my sub-menu as explained in https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/, but that doesn’t get me anywhere, as i can’t get that to show up under MENU.
am i misunderstanding the meaning of MENU in wordpress?

Hi dear,
Have you created menu by clicking “Create New Menu”” Button.
If yes, please add items (pages created by you) in that menu using add item button.And then by using drag and drop you can make it submenus or menu.

thanks for your answer! Yes i did, and then there is no Main Menu option. And whether i make it happen as Social Menu or Slide-out Menu, the result is the same: all the main menus disappear (Home, Contact, Blog) and instead there is only the page that i chose as menu item. It doesn’t make any sense, or does it?

Currently your (Home, Contact, Blog) menus appear on the rightmost side of menu tab.Thanks.

Still INTERGALACTIC 2, same problem without theme though. Yes currently the (Home, Contact, Blog) menus appear on the rightmost side. When i make my new menu as Social Menu or Slide-out Menu, the result is the same: all the main menus (Home, Contact, Blog) disappear and instead there is only the page that i chose as menu item. It doesn’t behave as described here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
