Improve blogroll display and management
-
Isn’t it about time the Links Widget was updated to provide options to manage blogrolls better?
We have many new themes that look good, except for long lists of links that scroll on for ever. I’ve just changed to Vigilance, which looks great except for the blogroll.
Ideally, I’d like to see a few options in the Links Widget, eg:
Display 5 most recent additions to the blogroll (at the top of the blogroll or as a separate widget)
Display 5-20 random links instead of the full blogroll
Display a dropdown menu, along the same lines as the Archive Widget but with the Link Categories as the selectable options.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I want to be able to add multiple blogroll widgets and specify which category to show. Instead of having one long list, I could break up, for example, “Friend Links” category into one widget and “Other Interesting Blogs” into another and place it someplace further away in the sidebar.

I was just thinking about this myself, I haven’t really been using the “links” yet, but now that it’s piling up it looks like a mess. I would love being able to categorize the links such as for example the drop-down archive.
