Improve widgets page in dashboard
-
The widgets page in your dashboard at Appearance → Widgets became relatively crowded over the time. A lot of new widgets have been added there over the course of the last years. This means a lot of scrolling nowadays when you want to add a new widget.
I think Automattic should think about a better design/layout/arrangement for all these widgets to make finding one easier and reduce the amount of scrolling.
Why not starting out by grouping the widgets into several categories like social media, feeds, date&time, stats & information, taxonomy, misc, …
Cheers

Hi Carolyn,
while we’re at it I thought I’ll create a little mockup to give you an idea of what I was thinking about. :)
Here it is: → widgets_mockup.png.
This should give a little more detail about what I was talking about in the first post. :)

This looks great! It is really a problem if you have a long way to drag & drop items for your sidebars. An accordion or toggle mode for widget groups would be a huge benefit.
+1
Best regards
