Improved photo-blogging scripts

Is there ever any chance that wordpress.com might incorporate a plug-in like “lightbox plus” into the system? The plug-in is already designed to integrate with the [gallery] feature of wordpress, so it would be simple to just make displaying images through the plug-in as a selectable option, along with “file URL” or “attachment page.” There are also many options available within this plug-in that would maintain diversity across the site. Ever since day one of my wordpress.com blog I have been wanting a feature like this to display photos in. Finally, I have decided to create a self-hosted blog to run the plug-in. I hated to go through the hassel of doing this when my only complaint against wordpress.com is the lack of a lightbox style plug-in. I love the themes. I love the ease of use. I love the stability of wordpress.com, and I hate to give all that up, but I’m just tired of seeing my images looking tacky on the page. I think if this plug-in, or another similar feature were added to wordpress.com, many, many more professional and serious amateur photographers would begin using the service.

@davidjr This is a good suggestion. We are working to improve media functions, and I’ll add your lightbox feedback to the suggestion list for our designers. Maybe it’s something we can add in the future!
