Improving accuracy of counting viewers vs views
-
A thought on how to improve the accuracy of the viewers totals on stats. As it is now there can be more countries listed than viewers. If the algorithm used the number of countries with views as a minimum then this wouldn’t happen.
-
The number of viewers is delayed up to around two hours because of the way the count algorithm works and that is probably why you see more countries than viewers early on during the day (my site always does this early in the morning) – but the number of visitors should be correct a few hours after midnight

Thanks.
just saying that in the meantime there could be a command inserted that said viewers can’t be fewer than countries.

Too much code for my taste –
I have just gotten used to the more countries than visitors at 5 am – your suggestion would also distort the stats – views by countries would then not match page views – so then would you complain about that math problem? So that would mean that all our stats would then be delayed by several hours which speaking of someone that used to write code – would be a nightmare

First.
This was a suggestion, not a “complaint.”
I never check my stats at 5:00 AM. This happens throughout the day. If the stats are not compiled until later that is not made clear.
Not sure how adjusting how viewers are metered would change the stats on views….

This is an observation, NOT a complaint (just thought I’d make that clear). It is now 19h40 (Montreal/New York timeline) and I have 4 visitors but 12 countries listed on my blog stats. Just letting you know.

Yes, we know. Because there are about ten threads in the forum on that issue already including the Sticky one at the very top of the forum https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/visitor-stats-not-updating?replies=22
