Imprt Content From WordPress

Hi,
I was trying to import content from one WP blog to another, but instead of importing, a red flag popped up and said something was missing from the file. I tried again this time instead of dropping it to the box, I clicked and uploaded it. This time, it said there was something wrong with the link. How can I import my content? It’s already been two days of the seven given.

I’ll be happy to take a look. Can you please tell me which site you created the export file from? And what site you are trying to import that file to?

The site I created the export form was

And I wanted to import it into
http://www.theunlostbooknook.wordpress.com -

Yes they were… I got the xml file but when I went to upload it, it said there was something missing from the link

Hmm. Is it possible for you to capture a screen shot of the import screen when you get that message? Here’s how you do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
Next, add the screen shot to your media library so that I can take a look at it.
Which options did you select for the export content? Have you tried creating a new export file?

Sure, I’ve added it to my media library…
I chose the options of: jane as author, start date, end date, and books for category.
I’ve made a new export file but it did the same thing.

I’ve asked our developers to take a look as this might be an issue on our end. Please let me know if you’ve unzipped the file, as I try to track down the source of this error you keep seeing.

Thank you so much for helping, I tried to unzip the file but it says there was an error. I took a screenshot and added it to my media library.

Hi Jane –
It looks like you’ve been trying to upload the zip file rather than the xml file. The xml file is what you want for your import to be successful. I’m not sure why you are getting this error so I’ve gone ahead and processed the export + import from my side. Let’s see how this goes and I’ll be in touch as soon as the import is complete.
I did not get any error messages along the way – fingers crossed :)
