In Chrome, WP Gateway theme’s Featured Content titles are wrapping illegibly to the right of featured images

In Chrome, WP Gateway theme’s Featured Content titles are wrapping illegibly to the right of featured images. As shown in the theme’s info page, this is not right; the titles should appear under the featured images.
This error occurs only in Chrome, not MS Edge or Firefox. (I am running Windows 10.) Also, the error does not occur when I access the homepage while in WP’s Customizer mode. It doesn’t occur if I preview the homepage for tablet or mobile view, only for desktop.
Changing the font did not help. (I’m using the default font.)

Hello there,
That sounds most odd, and something I’m not seeing on my side.
Are you able to provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing via: https://snipboard.io/ as this might produce some clues as to what might be causing that.
Many thanks.

Hi, Aleone89. I really appreciate the prompt reply! Thank you? I just took a screenshot and will attempt to share it with Snipboard.io.

Hello there,
Many thanks for that – it was most useful.
The only time I can replicate that exactly, is when the screensize/window changes from bigger to smaller.
It doesn’t look like you are, but can you check if the browser is zoomed in?
Also, is that the biggest window size that’s configured?
Lastly, there’s some extensions at play there I see, is there anything that could result in this zooming in or resizing?
-
I confirmed that Chrome’s Zoom setting is at 100%.
When you ask “is that the biggest window size that’s configured?” are you referring to a setting in the Gateway theme? I confess that I’m not sure where to find that in the settings.
Now I’m really parading my ignorance: what are extensions? It sounds like a way of customizing a WP site; maybe not. I’ve not customized Gateway beyond the options it presents. I.e., I’ve not attempted to change the CSS or anything so advanced.

OK, only after uninstalling my extensions did I have the idea to go into my Chrome settings. I saw that Appearance > Font Size was set to “Large” not “Medium (recommended)”.
I switched that to “Medium…” as now my homepage’s featured content titles are appearing correctly. Yay! I’m 99.9% sure that the fix was that font size setting, not the removal of any of the extensions.
Is there a way that you or I could put this on the radar of the Gateway developers to correct in a future update? My personal preference for Chrome is to use the Large font size, and I can’t be alone in that among Chrome users, I’m sure…perhaps especially those over the age of 40 like me – LOL! It would be great if Chrome font size changes did not result in the featured content moving/wrapping in the Gateway theme.

Yep, that is likely the case.

As someone staring down 50, I can totally relate! But, I’m not sure if it’s something that could be accounted for perfectly when using a responsive theme, which the vast majority are nowadays.
Responsive themes offer an easy way to set up a website that looks great on any device – that includes your desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device. In addition to loading properly on any device, the theme will respond to the device viewing the content and resize the content accordingly. Adding in the extra layer of trying to accomodate for browser zoom (and all the variables there), it would be quite difficult to implement and may not behave as expected anyway.
Since it is your website, you could experiment with adjusting font sizes in the Customizer so they’re better suited for you – once you choose something other than the default, you’ll have options to change the size.
Otherwise, you could use CSS to make the default font bigger – you would need to upgrade to a Premium or higher plan in order to access Custom CSS so let us know if you decide to upgrade and we can help with making the default font size a bit bigger.

Thank you so much for the informative reply! I will play around with different fonts that the Gateway theme offers and see if there’s one that’s larger.
I very well may upgrade to Premium by YE. (Can one have multiple sites under one plan?) I have a second site I want to create and it will require audio and video and I want to use Google Analytics with it.

Hi there,
Can one have multiple sites under one plan?
It is one plan per site. So, if you are wanting the upgrade features on your second site, a second plan will need to be purchased.
Hope that helps.
