In need for some changes in the theme Creative
-
Hi
I bought the theme Creative, but there are some things I would like to change :
– if I don’t use the blog section, on purpose, I wish there would be no text at that place. Is it possible? (instead of nothing found? ready to publish your first post)
– if I buy the premium account, which gives me access to the css, can I edit the way the articles show up? Because the fact that the date of publication and the type of article are published, could be an argument to leave this theme, as I really don’t want those details to appear. Thanks to let me know.
– in the same situation, on the page ‘portfolio’ (https://mingotwo.wordpress.com/portfolio/), I don’t want the title as it is : Archives Projets. Can I edit it with the css?
– my website is in French but there are some elements from the theme that show up in English (like ‘view projet’ or ‘filter by type’ on the portfolio page). Do you know how I can edit those or will they be changed by the WP team?
– also, I’m wondering if there is a way to arrange and classify the different portfolio? I don’t want an order by date of publication…
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello there!
First, I’m going to send you to Creative’s special help page. Since it is a premium theme, you have access to the theme’s developers. They will help you with the layout questions. It’s possible they can assist so you can take care of your issues without additional CSS. Here is their link:
https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/creativeOnce they help you with the aesthetics of the site, I can help further, if you still need me.
One issue I can help with, beforehand, is the order with which your portfolio displays. You can make adjustments by using Portfolio Shortcode. Instructions for that can be seen here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/Also, regarding the language issues, you should take your concerns to the GlotPress community to recommend your changes to the French language links and elements that don’t display as you wish. Here is the link to GlotPress instruction:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/glotpress/Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

Hi
Thanks for your reply (which I discovered lately!).
I already contacted the developers but all I get is links to pages that don’t really help me. I’m gonna ask again though and will let you know.I’ll check the portfolio link you sent me.
I’m wondering, with glotpress, if I have to add the elements I want to be translated or do I have to check on what’s already here?
Thanks again

Hey there,
I’m wondering, with glotpress, if I have to add the elements I want to be translated or do I have to check on what’s already here?
You can actually do both. Check first to see if someone has already added these translation strings. If not, then you can suggest them.

Great. Definitely make sure they understand your issue isn’t being solved with those links! It may be that your requests are not a possibility, but I want you to know 100% what is doable, and what isn’t!
Thanks again for touching base :)

So I checked Glotpress, and the elements are there, translated. I told the developper so I guess they will be published in the near future.
I also tried to embed the short-code for portfolio but, it doesn’t work the way it should. I guess I missed a step!
Here’s my test page, where the shortcodes show up as links, instead of real embedded things… https://mingotwo.wordpress.com/blog/
I’m not really sure where I should edit the attributes to change the layout. Thanks!

Hello there,

You added URLs, rather than shortcode.
These are the instruction to format portfolio shortcode:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/Give those steps a try, starting at the top of the page, and working your way to the bottom. All the attributes are listed, so you can pick and choose what you might like.
Once that shortcode is installed, let me know how it works out!

Great news! Thank you for letting me know :)

Hi Robyn
I really feel stupid because I tried again and again, read again the procedure, but still it doesn’t work. I have 5 or 6 portfolios in my dashboard, I enabled the content type but it says I don’t have any portfolio in my dashboard so I’m a bit lost…
https://mingotwo.wordpress.com/blog/(or I guess that I’m not picking the right short code? in the cms, it says short code and I get an url…)

Hey there!
You’re getting closer, but you have pasted the example portfolio shortcode directly from the instructions. That has sample tags, rather than information specific to your site.
Please start by pasting the simplest portfolio code into your page:
[portfolio]
If you want to add attributes, such as a specific amount of columns, you’ll see the list off possibilities here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/#attributesIf you wanted a 4-column portfolio, you’d add this:
[portfolio columns=4]
Why don’t you start there, and let me know how it works out?
You should also adjust the page attributes in the right-hand column:
https://cloudup.com/cJz2ESBLf-X
Change the Template to Portfolio.FYI…
You also have a ready-built portfolio that was created when you added projects:
https://mingotwo.wordpress.com/portfolio/You can always simply use that, if you wish.
Let me know how this works!

Oh my, it was that obvious that I didn’t see it! It’s just [portfolio]…
Ok I’ll try and let you know. Thanks again for your kind help!I know the theme has a ready-built portfolio but I wanted to try something else (the main reason is to be able to order the portfolios, not by default).
