In need of media libriary folders

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

I just transferred my blog from another service to WordPress.com. In the transfer process the photos from my old blog were also transferred to the WordPress media library for my new blog. That was 4 years worh of photos, in ohter words, a lot of photos…

After the import, I need to go through my blog posts and do some manual corrections to the placement, size and general presentation of my photos, as WordPress did not mach everyhting quite right during the import.

The problem is, all the photos reside in one media library as individual files, and the date of all these files are the import (to WordPress) date; in other words, all the photos have the same date stamp on them. Also, the order seems to be quite random, and there is no filtering option to bring any kind of order to what is now for all intent and purposes a mess of photos.

I have searched the forums, and I came across this Q&A that addresses the issue
In this reply, the WordPress staff member states that media libary folders are not available at the moment.

However, having some sort of folder, or at least a decent sorting or filtering, mechanism is an urgent need to me, and probably many more like me who have a lot of archived media on their blog. Please fix and introduce this a.s.a.p.

    Best,

    K

    Hello there,
To make your new feature request please use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas#postform
Please do not hold your breath while waiting. Future iterations of the Media Library may have such a feature but it does not exist at this time and there is no indication as to when folders may be introduced.
