In-post image editor has stopped working–editing icons do not show up
-
My image editor has stopped working when I am in the “Edit” mode for my post. I can still edit text. I tried logging in/out and quitting/restarting both Safari and Firefox. Both Safari and Firefox have worked fine up to now and this problem arose suddenly about 10 minutes ago but was not present all day.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Me too.
The options (in the paragraph Within Posts
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/#within-posts )disappeared.

@timethief
Really? i want the advanced settings! …- CSS class – The CSS classes that will be added to the image given the current settings. You can override this as appropriate.
- Styles – Any CSS styles to be applied to the image
- Image properties – Thickness of border (in pixels), vertical space (in pixels), and horizontal space (in pixels).
- Title – Image title to be displayed as a tooltip.
- Link rel
.
Etc.
OMG! :'(

I’ve added additional information to our sticky note that explains some of these changes. Please refer to https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-paste-as-word-button-has-been-removed-from-the-visual-editor?replies=2
We will continue to update that thread as more information is available.

@jackiedana: but…what about the advanced settings?
Are these options will be available in the future? Or they will be lost?
-
I cannot predict what may happen in the future beyond what I’ve documented in the sticky thread. There could always be additional changes or additions, but they may not be on our roadmap for now.
-
jackiedana, what if we ask nicely? Pretty please…?
I admit to being strongly attached to the advanced image editing options, so I’m finding it difficult not to view the change emotionally.
This change dramatically impacts my ability to make my blog look the way I want it to. Would I regain this level of control by paying for the feature? What options do I have? Help me, please!
-
I am all for making improvements but this change which removes functionality is a big backward step. The option to add a border has gone and I suspect that, like me, a lot of people used that.
I am forever amazed that WP make changes without thoroughly testing them first.

I’m a serial image border user as well, it’s part of the styling I have developed for my blog. Ok, I can use the text editor and add a border style code individually to each image in a post so I can keep my current look, but gee, as a photo blog, what a pain. I also used the margin padding quite a bit when I wanted to space out images that do not have captions. This loss of easy access to these image options is disappointing.
-
In a cruel twist, as of my writing this, the support page for image settings still shows a view of the “Advanced Settings” window with text to help guide us to the control we seek.
A painful reminder of the good old days.
This subject interrupted the flow of my daily blog and, sadly, became the topic of today’s post.

I preferred to scale images using the percentage option, especially when I have to match the size of multiple images. Now, I have to drag them and I cannot tell how to match the size of two images exactly. This improvement/upgrade is making things difficult and not easy. The only thing your visual editor needed was an option for creating tables, otherwise, it was working perfectly fine (if only you’d ask your users).

Yup, I’m another images – advanced settings user. Pointless, short-sighted change. Now I can’t make my blogs look like I want, thanks a bunch (grumble, grumble)…
This definitely needs revisiting.

@ johnwhays
I feel your pain! This change is a mess, I cannot for the life of me understand why they have removed the resizing option (with the percentages), which was obviously popular judging by the number of complaints.
Worst change ever.

As of today, I find I can no longer create the space I want around images – they all sit wrongly now and look very amateurish. Nor can I place borders around the images. It seems, for some reason WordPress has now decided to deprive its users of the advanced settings. The whole way of editing images has changed, and not for the better! I spend days researching and formatting my posts, and now I find can no longer present them as I would like to. Unless I have the freedom to do this, after all blogs are a very personal statement, I am beginning to wonder if it is worth bothering to post at all. Please tell me you are going to change this back, WordPress.

@jackiedana, could you please at least advise how to insert mouse-over text to the images?
-
Please, at least, re-able the “Advanced Edit” option for pictures.
Thank you for your attention. -
@ameliacurzon, exactly. Am contemplating transferring my allegiance. And I’ve got at least eight different blogs (I write / provide content for others) to shift.
Let’s see if they pay us any heed…
