Inability to connect to post on blog.
-
I can no longer post to my blog, as I have done daily for almost five years. I am told my upgrade requires 60 dollars. I have asked for no upgrade and do not want one. I do not wish to pay for my blog and have never done so. I don’t want a plan. I am desperate.
-
You don’t need to pay for anything to use your blog, that’s why we have a free plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/ :)
What is the URL of the site you’re having trouble with, and would you please describe what’s going wrong?
-
I don’t know what a URL is. My blog address is
scribblescribbleblog.wordpress.com
I have had this site and posted daily for nearly five years. I go to the siste and cclick on Possts, then new Post, then type in Heading and Paste the body of the post then Publish. That’s it.
Suddenly on 2nd December I found I could not post and was not offered Publish, only Schedule. Then I got messages about Pages and Blocks. Today I was told I had to pay sixty dollars. I do not wish to pay and have never done so. I only want to add my Daily Page to my blog.
I do not wish to Upgrade. -
https://scribblescribbleblog.wordpress.com/ is still on the free plan.
Who exactly told you that you needed to pay something? I don’t see this is any of the support interaction under your account.
As for trouble posting, if you hit Schedule, does it still publish immediately, or does it schedule for a specific date and time? I’m thinking it could just be a glitch with the button’s “name” in this case.

Thank you for replying.
I received an email from Anne F. from wordpress.com suggesting that I had been close to investing in an upgrade to my wordpress.com site and had forgotten to complete the work.
I had done no such thing, never having wished to upgrade.
If I hot Schedule nothing happens: it does not post it then or at a later date. This has not happened before.
-
You received that email because at some point you added the Personal Plan to your cart, but you never completed checkout. Go to My Site ->Plans and click the notice that appears top-right on the screen to view your cart. Then remove the plan from the cart, and you won’t receive any further reminders to complete your purchase.

Are you referring to the 8 draft posts on your site, all created on Wednesday? None of those posts appear to have been scheduled for publishing.
If nothing happens when you select a date and click on Publish, try clearing your browser cache and see if that helps. If you’re using any browser add-ons, also try removing those.
-
I did not add a Personal Plan. But anyway, thank you, I have removed that and presumably the $60 charge. But I still cannot get Publish to appear when I post. Only Schedule appears.
The draft posts were from my attempts to post on Wednesday. None have ever appeared.
What is my browser cache? I do not attach add-ons usually (occasionally a picture) and have not done so recently.
What I need now is for Publish to appear as a projected action.
Thank you for your help!
-
I have now managed to post today’s post and the last two days’ posts! Hallelujah!
But I still have to go through the rigmarole of Schedule .
This is, however, small suffering compared with the torture of the last three days!
Blessings on you!

But I still cannot get Publish to appear when I post. Only Schedule appears.
The schedule button appears if you’ve selected a date/time in the future as the publication time for the post.
If that appears even if you haven’t manually modified the publication date, it means your site timezone is most likely wrong. Go to My Site ->Manage ->Settings and make sure your site timezone is the same as the timezone set on your computer.
What is my browser cache?
The cache is where your browser stores information of websites you visit. Often information becomes stuck in that cache, causing problems on specific websites. 99% of all issues you encounter on websites can be fixed by simply clearing the browser cache:
-
My browser cache is set for Safari, which is what I use.
I haven’t set the publication date for any future time. I just want Publish to come back. I can negotiate Schedule but it is messy and time-consuming. And my time-zone is set for Melbourne which is where I live.
But – thank you!
