Inactive Sidebar?

Hi, Why does my site show that I now have an inactive sidebar? I don’t understand, can you explain please. Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Where on your site are you seeing this message?

You can move widgets to the inactive area. This lets you disable widgets but keep their settings so you can quickly enable them in the future.

“Inactive Sidebar” shows in Appearance > Widgets if you had added widgets to a sidebar that doesn’t show on your blog. Pilcrow has multiple layouts (selected in Appearance > Theme Options): you probably tried a two-sidebar layout at some point, added widgets to the extra sidebar, then changed to your current one-sidebar layout.

The reason I ask the question is because I was trying to put an ‘Events’ widget on my blog and then discovered the inactive sidebar. I don’t want to disable anything, I just want to add a widget, and get so confused!

Inactive sidebar is a better choice than deleting a widget. If you accidentally move a widget to the inactive sidebar, you can just move it to a sidebar for your theme to reactivate it.

If you delete a widget, then you’ll have to add it again and re-enter your settings / information again.

@lorenzocaum: You’re confusing the Inactive Sidebar with the Inactive Widgets section. The Inactive Sidebar (which you probably haven’t ever seen) isn’t a choice at all: it appears between Available Widgets and Inactive Widgets, I explained when this happens, and you can’t move widgets to it.

@shirleyford929: To add a widget to your single sidebar, you drag-and-drop it to Sidebar. The rest needn’t concern you.
