Inactive Users?
-
I’ve noticed quite a few users on the forums are listed as Inactive and unable to click on their link? Is this their own doing or has something gone down?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ummm … Staff are busy working on the Support section at present and have deactivated the support link until Monday, October 10th (UTC).

Well to name a few when I click on the off topic thread “Today I Posted”
bryoniecarolan
absurdoldbird
wastelandexplorer
kymleemurphy
ukate
silent0antagonist
strawberryindigo
theinsanityaquariumAlthough on some topics they’re not Inactive, unless it’s a problem with the actual thread and not the users?

They seem to be fine now. My guess is a just caching issue on our end that probably irons itself out in an hour or so, then it probably gets stuck in your browser cache too.

Ah right, good to know, just wanted to make sure half the active users of the forums weren’t able to post :D

In that same Today I Posted thread:
ungabungagirlw
thequietvoice18
bokunosekai
megumiwasframed
caridwen
crashcourseinself
jayantr7
laavventura
mastalife
sayali611
nanycrafts
lifewith4cats
redroom10
spideronThose are the ones on the first 6 pages on that 27 page thread.
Also note just in case it’s related the following started happening in mid September. Every time I post into that Today I Posted thread my comment goes into the spam filter (invisible when logged out – visible to me when logged in). The same is also true of my comments made into the Word Association Game thread. :( darkjade88 is experiencing the same thing > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/link-clicks?replies=12 T

Inactive doesn’t actually send things into spam, it disables posting entirely, and you’ll get an error that your account is inactive.
Even though the users are marked as such on that thread, their actual account status does not reflect inactivity.
I’ll do a bit more digging, but I’m 99% sure that this is just a cosmetic issue with a mis-reported status.

We see several assumed “inactive” users in the Showcase and Off Topic Forum threads but when we click that “inactive” link link it changes to “member”. I think it’s a minor ‘glitch”. As the Off-Topic Forum is just for chat, and as the same people use both it and the Showcase Forum almost daily to promote their posts, I don’t really think this is a high priority issue, because despite the “inactive” appearing members can post threads of their own, and can also post comments into threads others create.
-
My only worry is that because the links in their names aren’t active, there’s no way of getting directly to their blogs. Although having said that, the people who I see as ‘inactive’ change every time I visit the forums… it’s someone new everyday!
