Inactive WordPress account using my email

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to create a new WordPress account, but my email is associated with an existing account. I reset the password and viewed the account – it was created in 2014 and nothing was ever done with it. How can I get my email address off of this account? If I close the account, I can’t create a new account with my email address for 30 days.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi jpwest46services,

You should be able to login to the old account, go to the Account Settings page and add a new email address there. Doing so will free up the email address, meaning it can be added to a different WordPress.com account.

If you have any trouble, please reply here logged in to the other account and I’ll be happy to take a look.

Makes sense, but I’ll need to switch the email to another one of my addresses, because I have to be able to receive and confirm the email. If that’s the only way to do it, I guess I have an address I can use.

  • Hi there,

Yes, that’s how you need to do it. Use a third email address.

    Thanks, this worked.
