  So there is .wordpress.com domain that has just one “Hello World” entry posted on December 11, 2005.
  Can I somehow request that domain name, or are they taken for lifetime?

  blogs are good to the end of the internet – contact the blog owner and ask them to transfer the site to you – note: for privacy reasons the staff will not help you contact a blog owner – so you are on your own

  Well, he probably forgot about that site 10 years ago, bad luck for me :/
