Inappropriate ads

Hi. I am having a problem with innapropriate, sexually oriented ads in the freeI site have for my highschool English learners. Given the content of the site, it’s baffling how this type of ads are being served to its pages, instead of more innocuous, safe ones. Is there anything I can do about this?

    Cheers

By mistake this was reported as happening at josemota.pt, but it is not the case. It’s at https://camoescw.wordpress.com/. Sorry about the lapse.

  • Hi there,

If those ads are coming from WordPress.com, there will be a link under the add saying Report this ad. Please click that to report the ad, and our ads team will review.

What ads appear doesn’t depend on your site, but on the person visiting your site, on factors like their location, browser history, browser language settings, etc., so no two people visiting your site will see the same ads. Additionally we serve thousands of ads over tens of thousands of sites, from a variety of different ad networks, every day, so using that link to report it is the only way we can find and review a specific ad.

OK, I’ll do that, thank you for the tip. I just think there should be a way of marking a site for non-adult content, so that adult oriented ads are never served to its pages. Some people are very sensitive to these matters, especially in a school environment, and this can potentially cause serious problems.

  • Hi there,

We screen ads for illegal or mature content and our ad teams will definitely take action if the ad in question falls under a category we do not allow.

Also, purchasing a paid plan will remove ads altogether from your site. For more information on ads, please visit our support page:

    Thanks,
