Inappropriate advertising
-
Inappropriate Advertising on a blog. I have only just opened my account on WordPress but in reading a friend’s blog (http://thecrazyadventuresofafosterteen.wordpress.com) I read several of her newer posts and noticed incredibly crass advertising (“would you F— an old woman?” as well as video clips of VERY graphic pornography!). They were on 2 of her posts. Her blog is about her life as an abused child and while some of her writing is about abuse, she used no vocabulary that would have encouraged that type of advertising. If this cannot be corrected, I will be closing my account as well as encouraging her to find another blog hosting site. It is my hope that this is not only rare but an unheard of happening on your blogs.
Thank you,
Katie Gonzalez
This post had pornographic videos at the top and bottom:

If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link what you are seeing is ads placed by WordPress.com
-
If you are seeing those then that’s a browser-ad-on issue, or in some cases, it’s embedded into free games downloaded from the internet. See here: Bloggers: Beware of Adware.
If what you are seeing whenever you save or update a post or page is an automatically added code/script block at the end of posts and pages that you can’t delete then see here: Malware Targets Macs and Windows PCs
All of WordPress.com ads are family-friendly. If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it, upload it via Media -> Add New to your Media Library. Then return to this thread to post the file name to let Staff them know it’s there for them to view.
Lastly, note to eliminate all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs we can purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade

Edit for clarity;
If you are seeing any ads aside from those with this link http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/
then that’s a browser-ad-on issue, or in some cases, it’s embedded into free games downloaded from the internet. -
I’ve let the blogger know and referred her to the articles. There are videos all over her blog suddenly (they weren’t there yesterday) that are really graphic! Not sure she can take a screen shot of a video. She’s a very young, on her own kid so not sure if she’ll know how to clean out her computer and she definitely can’t pay the ad-free upgrade fees.

If you see you them when viewing her blog and there is no accompanying http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/link then they are on your browser.

Right! This is exactly what I thought. I disabled my Ad-Blocker and I don’t see single ad of any kind at all on that blog. You have an issue on your browser or computer. Those ads are not placed on your site by WordPress.com. They are being placed there by software on your own computer, unfortunately. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.
These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:

That was all hugely helpful! It was totally coming form my computer so I’ve cleaned it out and all gone. Thanks!

Hooray! I’m so glad you got rid of it. The good thing is no one saw it but you. Best wishes for happy blogging.
