Inappropriate advertisments

    I know the topic on adverts on WordPress has been discussed quite exhaustivly – but I have found nothing in regards to inappropirate adverts.

    I completely understand that wordpress places adverts on our websties and I have absolutley nothing against it – as it allows them to provide such a fantastic service for free. Although I really want to know what the policy is in regards to adverts with sexual content? I have a cooking and travel blog, and today when I was going through my website I saw the following adverts in three consecutive posts;

    1. woman’s nacked legs in a shower
    2. Woman in a school girl outfit with breasts pushed against the camera – with a caption in Spanish regarding a stip tease
    3. A woman’s bottom in white a g-stirng pushed against the camera – another video advertisment

    I actually feel quite offended by this, and really don’t want this kind of images on my website – i find it highly inappropriate. I actually have screen shots on all three adverts but don’t think I can upload it here. As I mentioned I have nothing against adverts being placed on my website – but is there no policy regarding sexual content?

    If anyone know anything more, please do let me know!
    Alex

    I believe you ought to report these to Staff. Please also take screenshots if and when you can and submit them by using this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

    P.S. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

    I looked at your blog and while I didn’t see any ads with sexual content there were a number with flashing ‘download’ images. These appear to be served by Adperium. Hover over the offensive ads next time you see them and check the destination in the status bar of your browser; it should tell you if they are Adperium too.

    Adperium is based in the Netherlands, and I’m not sure how useful it would be to complain to them; nudity in adverts is a lot more common on the Continent than in the US (or the UK, for that matter) so their threshold for ‘appropriate’ may differ accordingly. It wouldn’t hurt to try, though; they have more control over what gets served on your blog than wordpress.com does.
