Inappropriate Adverts & Questions
-
He Guys – I have a couple of questions. Although I have absolutely no problem with there being adverts on my blog (after all I love this free service) I do have problems when adverts are of a sexual nature…currently I have a banner animation of two great big heaving breasts, which is not only inappropriate but hugely distracting. Who do I contact to get something like this down?
My second question is, I was always under the impression that when I was logged in to wordpress I wouldn’t see any adverts, but currently I have adverts when i’m in the dashboard – is this a new policy? Thanks in advanced for any advise!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All WordPress.com placed ads are easy to identify as this link accompanies them http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/ and they are family friendly ads.
Any other ads you see are not placed on the blog by WordPress.com. They are coming from a browser extension or toolbar. These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads: http://www.littletechiethings.com/2012/06/how-to-remove-ads-not-by-this-site.html http://blog.wikimedia.org/2012/05/14/ads-on-wikipedia-your-computer-infected-malware/ http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/09/14/bloggers-beware-of-adware/

No. To off-set the costs of providing free hosting to millions of bloggers, WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read the advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all.
10. Advertisements. Automattic reserves the right to display advertisements on your blog unless you have purchased an Ad-free Upgrade or a VIP Services account. http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

I tagged this for a Staff response.

Hi Timethief – thanks so much for the information and the helpful links you sent, I have had a look at them and will try and clean my browser as I think this definitely must be what the problem is (a lot of my ads are specifically for Mexico where I am currently living!)
I just wanted to reiterate that I am fully aware that adverts will appear on my blog as that is how such a great program is kept free – but my question was more in regards to adverts being displayed in my dashboard…unless this is a new policy, I have a feeling it has to do again with my browser!
Thanks once again!

Hi again,
You’re welcome. Hang in there please for the Staff response re: dashboard adverts. :) -
Could you send us a screenshot of the page where you’re seeing this? You can upload the screenshot to your blog’s media library.
Are you perhaps using any browser add-ons or extensions? It’s possible that these cause ads to show in the dashboard. If so, please disable these: http://www.ilovefreesoftware.com/02/articles/how-to-uninstall-or-disable-google-chrome-extension.html
