inappropriate user name

  I’m a psychotherapist and started a blog called barbtherapist A friend then pointed out that this can read barb the rapist I started a new blog called counsellorbarb but the new one still states “created by barbtherapist” How do I get rid of that?

  You can change the name you want to display on your blog and in comments, etc:

  Dashboard –> Users –> Your profile –> and then select the dropdown options for “Display name publicly as:”. You might have to change your nickname first though.

  Hope that helps and yeah, that was a pretty unlucky choice. :)

  It should be noted however that you cannot change your actual username and that it is part of the url to your blog so changing your nickname may not achieve your end.

  Perhaps your best bet is to
  (1) register under a new username using a different email address
  (2) establish a new blog
  (3) import the contents of the old blog into the new one
  (4) delete the first blog

  If you do this please note that blog names and usernames can never be re-used. In your case this may prove to be a blessing.

  TT’s got it close.

  – Create a new user account but don’t assign it a blog. Just create an account.
  – Log out
  – Log back into wordpress.com with your BtR account and go to 2nd blog -> Dashboard -> Users -> Add user at the bottom of the page. Add in your second user account as an admin.
  – Log out
  – Log back in with your 2nd user account and go back to the same page. Remove the BtR account completely.

  That should work for you. Aren’t you glad you caught it early?

  I’m sorry to say I saw that name several times and parsing it to say “barb therapist” never once crossed my mind. I should make an appointment, obviously.
