Including data tables in a post

I copied a table of data from a web site into a new post. The data pasted in OK but not in the table format. I adjusted the data into a table format, saved it and it looked fine but the preview of the post showed the data but again not in the table format I saw in the draft. I tried typing in the data but got the same results. Apparently drafts apparently are not “what you see is what you get.” Does anyone know how to enter a table in a post?

Only way to get the table is to write the html yourself. Pasting from webpages will give you a lot of extra tags. Someone recommended a web page where you can make your basic table, but I don’t remember what it is off the top of my head and I didn’t bookmark it.

Or, you can do what I did when I needed a table. I made the table in nvu and then took a screenshop, cropped it and uploaded the image. That was after fighting with coding the table for an hour.

When I’ve needed a table in a post, I’ve created the table in Google Docs and then copy/pasted the html over to WordPress. As I type this, it occurs to me that next time I’ll try posting directly to my blog from Google Docs.
