Incoming Emails from Customers Who Apparently Like My Newly Written Posts

    To Whom It May Concern:
After I create and post an article on my http://mabuhayusveterans.wordpress.com. , I get this message from anyone that likes my Post: (Name of Customer or Business that saw my most recent Post) just started following you at http://mabuhayusveterans.wordpress.com. They will receive an email every time you publish a post. Congratulations.
You might want to go see what they’re up to! Perhaps you will like their blog as much as they liked yours!
Is this a generic message that is sent out by WordPress.com everytime, someone sees what I wrote and am I obligated in any way, as to look at what they have written? The reason is, my Blog Website (http://mabuhayusveterans.wordpress.com.) is unique and ONLY pertains to Retired U.S. Veterans / Actively Serving and with 1-year of retirement, contemplating a permanent or semi-permanent move to the Philippines. Honestly, I really can’t understand why anyone would want me to look at their websites, as 99.9% of them that I have visited have nothing to do with what my site is all about and, are possibly enticing me to visit their site to purchase something…which I won’t do. (NOTE: There has only been one young lady who liked what I had to offer and she had some informative Posts pertaining to advertising with WordPress.com that I have now incorporated into my own WordPress.com Website too.)
So, please respond as to how I should handle these emails, as to this minute, I had to delete 13-emails that responded back to my Posts of last night (Monday, 10/26/2020) and, it’s truly hard to review so many emails, when the internet here in the Philippines is poor at its best.
    Thanking you ahead of time.
    Respectfully,
    Mabuhay US Veterans

P.S. This has been happening ever since I went live with my first Post on 6/29/2020. Sometimes, I only post one article while other times (like last night) I post multiple Posts that are all written on a WORD Document (which I save) and, then copy and paste to WordPress.com to Post on my own site.

  • Hi there,

Yes, this is a generic email you will receive if someone interacts with your site. You can ignore those if you’re not interested. There’s absolutely no obligation to check every site.
As to why people like your posts or your blog in general, there’s no way of knowing; some may have a genuine interest in what you’re writing; others may do it so that you visit their site. That’s not something you can control.

You can either not display the like button on your posts or change your notification settings so that you will not receive so many emails. Here’s more information about this:

    I hope that helps :)

    Fresatomica,

Thanks for taking time to respond to my query, as it was very much appreciated!

I went ahead and adjusted what will come at my end via emails to cut down on the amount of traffic that I see (which coincidentally is NOT all WordPress.com / .org customers. I was led to believe that what I would be receiving would only be responses from only other WordPress Customers and, it’s quite the opposite.

We can now consider this subject matter closed.

    Respectfully,

    Mabuhay US Veterans
