Incoming link
-
What does incoming link mean in site stats? It shows me a certain friends blog post adress today, but there is no mention or comment or like from me. Also there is no link to my blog at all. im confused.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I forgot to say earlier but Referrers and Incoming links are not the same…
http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#referrersReferrers could be any website. Incoming links are only websites indexed by Google Blogs.

Thank you I knew that before.
The thing that confuses me is, that there is no link to my blog on the page that shows up in the incoming links.. Ahh this sounds so strange. Hope you got the idea. -
@baibabruuka are you on your friends blogroll?
For the past day or so I’ve seen a slew of incoming links (not referrers) from a newspaper’s blog posts. My blog is linked on their blogroll on the same webpage as the posts (though not linked in the individual posts or it would be a referrer). I’ve never seen this before in my stats, but recall seeing such a slew of links in my webmaster tools. It must be a quirk on Google’s side for them to suddenly appear on our dashboards

You’re welcome. And you know what? All of a sudden the slew of “incoming links” to the newspaper webpage are gone! I’m once again seeing links to familiar blog posts that have actually linked to my posts. So perhaps it was a temporary quirk of Google after all!

Did you happen to just leave a comment on your friend’s blog? I had a new one the other day that I thought was strange and when I followed it back, it was a blog that I had left a comment on.

I don’t think the Incoming Link thing is ready for prime time – I get refereals from sites that are never show up as incoming and I just looked at the links and there is a link from a help forum that is not a blog at all.
So I really don’t pay any attention to it.
