incoming links – when will they be reinstated?

This has been going on for over a month. Nothing from WordPress. What is happening?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We don’t know. I did a forum search and found that out for you. Here are some search results: http://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=incoming+links (forum results towards the bottom of the page) and https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=incoming+links

This is most likely (highly likely) on Google’s end since that is where wordpress gets the information. Google’s end of that stick has been messed up many times before and for whatever reason they just quite reporting, quit indexing, or dump their indexes on incoming links and don’t get around to fixing them sometimes for several months. No one know why, but this is just sort of the way Google operates on most everything. One day it is here, the next day it is gone.

On Google’s Blog Search API page http://code.google.com/apis/blogsearch/ it says:
“Important: The Google Blog Search API has been officially deprecated as of May 26, 2011. It will continue to work as per our deprecation policy, but the number of requests you may make per day may be limited.”
So I’ve suggested we remove it as a default setting in the Incoming Links panel on the main dashboard. I’m not sure yet if it will be replaced with something else, or possibly removed as something that shows up by default, or something else that I haven’t thought of yet.

We removed the Incoming Links panel. The Google Blog Search API we were using before is no longer supported by Google. There are a few alternatives. One is to look at referrers in your site stats instead. Another is to use Google Webmaster Tools where Google does still provide a “Links to your site” report in that service.
