Inconsistant application of categories – Sela

    I am amalgamating a few blogs and am trying to use categories to make each holiday able to be viewed. Some holiday categories work, some don’t. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong.
    I have removed categories, recreated them and reapplied and still no results.
    Canada and Rome-Austria-Paris work but the rest don’t.
    I tried adding a temporary category and added blogs to that but it worked for a while and then when I got all blogs linked to that category it stopped working. Help.

    Hi @eyballs,

    Confirming that I am getting an HTTP ERROR 500 when I go to all categories except for Canada and Rome-Austria-Paris on your site.

    This looks like it could be a server issue, so I’ve added the modlook tag to this topic to request WordPress staff assistance.

    @eyballs, I’m struggling with this particular post:

    The others seem to load without trouble. Can you try temporarily removing the categories from that post to see what happens?

    Also, if that doesn’t help, I noticed you’re displaying 28 posts per page. Would you consider reducing that a bit as well to help us narrow down the issue?

    Supernova. In the time between posting this and now I have removed all the Japan blogs, gone back to the original blog, updated all the categories there, changed the theme to Sela and then downloaded from the original blog and uploaded to the amalgamated blog. Sorry about that. I was under the impression this request hadn’t uploaded.
    I’m looking at the woodpuzzle post and will try and fix that, plus I will reduce the number of posts per page. Back to you soon.

    I’ve removed the category from the wood puzzle post and now things seem to work fine. Do you think it could be the length of the title of the blog. Rather wordy. I could shorten it and try again.

    If one of you admin people could delete the second topic I opened on this same subject that would be appreciated.

    Things are looking up. I’m trashing posts that won’t show up. Going back to the original blog for that section and updating the category “uncategorised” to replicate the category in the combine blog.
    Then I’m changing the original theme to Sela, downloading and then uploading it back into the combined blog.
    Lots of positive things happening.

    Update. Most problems have disappeared since I trashed then reloaded the posts. All except the Iceland – Norway category. Any suggestions which particular post is causing me the issue.

    I intend to rebuild the post “wood puzzles etc” as a brand new post and put that back where it belongs. We’ll see how that goes.

    Hi @eyballs, glad you’ve got most of this sorted. I’m not seeing this error at all with the Iceland – Norway category.

    Do let me know what happens with the Word Puzzles post though. In fact if you wouldn’t mind just setting the old one to a draft and updating its “slug” so you can re-use everything in a new post, that would be helpful.
