inconsistent font size
-
When using [caption align="alignleft" ...] the text next to the image appears in a larger font size. It happens both in FireFox 8.0 and IE 8.0. An aligned image without a caption is OK. I’m using the pool theme

All of the font sizes in your captions seem to be consistant.
Can you please point out two specifically inconsistant examples?
-
The captions are ok. It is the first line of the normal text flowing around the images that gets a bigger font size. Compare the red rectangles in the screen shot snippet: http://kantelier.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/inconsistent-fonts.jpg

Ah, now that I can see.
It looks like the top and bottom paragraphs are inheriting the style of the image in a sense. They’re being considered part of the same entity.
Do you have any better luck if you drop that text below the images?
-
Yes. see for example http://kantelier.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/travel-light/
It also helps to have an empty line after the [/caption] in the html editor. I did not yet publish such an article. But then the text is not aligned with the top of the image. At least not with a left aligned captioned image, a right aligned captioned image does align text after an empty line with the top of the image. Perhaps that is a hint.

Yeah, that’s the issue with image alignment. Images are aligned relative to text, so depending on how you position them, the text may inherit some of the caption’s qualities or visa versa.

We are drifting away from the original subject. Why does the font size change with the first line after the a left aligned caption?
Another subtle observation: if the content starts with a left aligned image, there is no space between the imag and the tags above, while there is some space otherwise.
work arround: start the content with a
(or some text) and put an empty line after each [/caption] The nbsp creates a bit too much space between the content and tags, but that is less ugly than the inconstistent font sizes and misalignments.
