incorrect credit card shown for domain renewal

  • Unknown's avatar

    To WordPress.com support:

I received the below email. The credit card number it shows is no longer valid. There is no place in my account ‘Manage Purchases’ page (and sub-pages) that shows this credit card, or any others. Nor is there a sub-page for managing domains, as indicated there should be on your help page at https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/#managing-domains. How do I update the credit card?

    Thanks,
    – Eric

The domain xxxxx.org on the site ‘xxxxx.org’ will renew automatically in 30 days. You don’t have to do anything — this is just a reminder.

You will be charged $18 for this renewal on December 14, 2019. This price does not include any applicable taxes which will vary based on your billing address. The charge will be made on your Discover xxxx, and will appear in the statement as WPCHRG.COM.

See all your purchases and manage them under your account.
    Happy WordPressing!

  • Hi there!

There are no purchases under the account from which you’re contacting us so you will not see anything in Manage Purchases.

To be able to change any billing data, you’ll want to log into the account that owns the purchase – oriongateway.

Excellent, that’s the problem. I logged in with the owning account and straightened out the billing info.

Before posting here, I had clicked the link in the renewal email and it took me to wordpress with credentials for the wrong account. Perhaps the system that generated the email needs a bit of work. The link was from the words “your account.” at the end of its second last sentence.

    Thanks,
    – Eric
