Incorrect domain on new site

Hi. I am having trouble registering my site with the correct domain name. It’s a long story, but I started registering my account and website, then found the template I want (Quintus) was not listed. I ended up starting over, and now I’m told my domain name is already taken, evidently because I started to register then couldn’t find the right template, so started over. I got premium service, if that matters. How can I correct it, please? Thanks.

P.S. correct domain name is acorncounseling.net, but it is registered now as acorncounseling.wordpress.com.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m sorry for the trouble! Since you have the WordPress.com Premium upgrade, you can head to the Domains page and register your custom domain name for free.

After you register that domain name, you will still see the free address acorncounseling.wordpress.com in a few places behind the scenes, but visitors to your site will only see your custom domain name.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Thank you for your response, Rachel. Actually, though, I have my domain name registered through Go Daddy. But when I initially registered for a site here I entered my domain name, but then the template that I wanted wasn’t listed there, so I started my registration again through the page of the template that I wanted, if that makes sense. But when I tried to go through the registration process again I was told that my domain had already been taken (when I first tried to register, I suppose). So I was given a wordpress domain name. I really need to fix this. I appreciate your help, but isn’t there some way I can actually communicate with someone directly, either email or phone? It seems really strange to sign up for a service like this and then not be able to communicate with anyone about it in a direct, immediate fashion.

    Hi there,

Sorry about that. Since you already have your domain name registered through GoDaddy, you can map it to your WordPress.com site, instead. (Domain mapping lets you use a domain you already own, rather than registering a new one.)

On the Domains page, under Use a domain you already own, you can click on the grey “Map an Existing Domain” button. That will allow you to replace the free acorncounseling.wordpress.com address with your custom domain name.

You have a direct line to staff through this support thread, but I’ll also send you this information directly via email so you can reply that way if you prefer. :)
