Incorrect Email

    Hi ive accidentally put in the wrong email address, and i cant change it what do i do?
    (email visible only to moderators and staff) is the address it should be

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

    Please type both the correct and incorrect email addresses here in the conventional format. The software will then redact ie. HIDE them so only Staff can see what they are.

    Hi there!

    As long as you’re able to login to your WordPress.com account, you can update your email address via your Account Settings here:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account

    After you’ve updated the Email Address field and ‘Save Account Settings,’ you’ll receive an email confirmation at the new address. Click on the link in this email to verify the update. You don’t need to be able to login to the incorrect email account to go through this process.

    I have done what you have suggested numerous times. The settings i.e. revised e-mail address is NOT updated and no I do NOT receive an e-mail confirmation at the new address. Can you please resolve. The e-mail address should be ******@aol.com NOT ******@ol.com.

    @dollychops9391 are you related to @mcprinternational’s account? If not, will you go ahead and start your own thread? Individual login issues are best resolved separately. For what it’s worth, though, I do not see any attempts at changing your email address.

    I’m sorry but I think WP.com have just lost a potential customer i.e. Domain and Webhost.

    I have tried on numerous occasions simply to correct my e-mail address and your system won’t, for whatever reason, allow it. I press the ‘save’ button and NOTHING happens. Occasionally I get a red banner come up saying it can’t update due to a problem!

    I am nothing to do with @mcprinternational’s account – that came from a response from ‘time thief’ to my enquiry. I am now unfortunately losing all patience with WP.com when I can’t even make a simple change to my account details.

  • Ah. I’m sorry, @dollychops9391 . It looks like Darnell is already in contact with you on the other thread. He has contacted you via email if you can watch for that.

  • @timethief, email change / verification issues can be pretty nuanced depending on which service a person used to sign up, how long ago, and a number of other factors. On our end, we get to see many of those factors for the original poster only.

    We can also look them up, so it’s not the end of the world if someone asks for help on another person’s thread. Usually I’ll just try to find what I can and help.

    However, in a case like this it’s unclear to us whether they’re responding in behalf of the first person, or whether they just have a similar issue. Particularly if their logs aren’t giving me more clues (as was the case with @dollychops9391) or if the original poster has not responded again to let us know they’re all set.

    TL;DR? If someone’s having trouble verifying their email, unless there’s a bug that applies to all accounts, we’ll want to avoid referring them to other people’s threads. Feel free to just modlook those so we can help as soon as possible. Thanks for all your help :)
