Incorrect Formatting on Uploaded Images
-
I couldn’t find anyone else that had raised this issue . . . is anyone else having this problem?
I have had no trouble whatsoever navigating the new upload system and using it to stick images into my posts, and I was thrilled to see that the alignment can now be set before the image is inserted. That would be especially useful for those posts where I have 35-50 images. Unfortunately, no matter what alignment I specify before I “Insert into Post,” the image is inserted with formatting not set and I have to go in through the “Insert/edit image” icon to align it properly.
Furthermore, the uploader will only insert images at full size, even when I specifically request thumbnails. I have tried going in and editing the media settings to standard thumbnail size to no effect. When I insert an image that I want thumbnailed and aligned left, this is the HTML code I get inside the brackets with the image source link: img class=”alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1158″ . . . When I manually align and size it correctly, the code of course changes to: img class=”alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1158″ style=”float: left;” width=”128″ height=”96″ and everything works properly. In short, the original code that the uploader inserts appears to have no effect whatsoever on the formatting of the image.
Of course, I CAN align and resize and each and every image after I’ve inserted it, but then it suddenly becomes more work than it was before the dashboard change. What gives? Why doesn’t it just thumbnail and align as instructed before inserting?

Interesting. That’s an unusual combination of issues. Can you please tell use your browser and version and whether you’re running the latest Flash (ie 9?).
I noticed that pasting the code from icanhascheezburger is not working properly now. The link and text end up on top of the image instead of under it. Something’s up with linked images for sure.
And I’ve noticed for several months that the Column Alignment overrides the chosen alignment in the pop-up box. No idea why, but I use the pop-up to set horizontal space and size, and the Column Alignment for setting alignment.

I’m running Firefox 2.0.0.13. I have the same problem in Internet Explorer (which I never use, but I went and checked). Just for kicks and giggles, I updated Flash from 9.0.28.0 to the slightly more recent 9.0.124.0 . . . didn’t make a difference.

The image insert seems to be pulling in a lot of stuff from the theme CSS.
To bypass all that, upload your images and then use the tree icon to insert them instead of the add media section. It will insert them cleanly with no settings whatsoever. Tisme explains it in the following thread.

I just spent two hours trying to align simple photos in a post. I’m finally giving up. I’m on Firefox too. It seems the “Visual” editing tool, is not “Visual” at all. In fact, I can’t get ANYTHING to look remotely like what the “Visual” editor is showing. I also can’t seem to get the “wrap” function to work. I’m about to rip out my hair.

Ah ha! That’s what the problem is and why I’ve been having almost no luck in getting the images inserted properly as I documented in this thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=27155&replies=4
I’ll be using the tree icon from now on.
