Incorrect Header Placement (The Debate and Storytelling Toastmasters)

  • Unknown's avatar

After sorting out the header size I thought it would sort out the placement issue, but it hasn’t. For some reason the header uploads beneath the site title. I am using Ten Sixteen theme. This is a free site so I’m not sure what permissions I may / may not have.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

To understand your issue better, I visited your site and noticed you’re using twenty sixteen theme. I am assuming by header you mean the header image of your site is uploading beneath your site title and tag line (The Debate and Storytelling Toastmasters – Where Leaders Are Made). Please correct me, if I am wrong.

By default, the header image’s position as per your theme is beneath the site title and tagline. Unfortunately you can’t change its position. However, if you want your site logo to appear besides your site title then you can achieve this by uploading the logo under My Sites > Themes > Customize > Site Identity.

Please refer the below article for more details:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-logo/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-header-image/

Also If you’re comfortable in changing the theme then try a different theme. You can browse themes using this link: https://wordpress.com/themes

I have tried to mimic the issue in my dummy site for your reference: https://dummysite390.wordpress.com/

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for your feedback. Yes, you are correct about the theme and header. The header image needs to be at the top due to Toastmasters branding, here’s an example:

Join Our Awesome Speakers and Leaders

So if I remove the Site Title and Tag Line, it would probably move the header to the top? I then would like to add to the header what would have been the Site Title and Tag Line, just like the sample above. How do I achieve this?

    Hi there,

Yes, If you remove site title, tagline and header image and upload the your image in site logo then you might can achieve the similar results.

I have made the same changes in my dummy site for your reference: dummysite390.wordpress.com

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

I just want to make one more addition in the above. If you enable the site title and tag line then it will appear beneath your site image.

You can try different combinations as per your choice under My Sites > Themes > Customize > Site Identity and then publish the changes which satisfy your needs.

I did enable the site title and tag line and it appears above the site image. That’s why I started this thread.

    Hi there,

Apologies for the misunderstanding, What I meant by “If you enable the site title and tag line then it will appear beneath your site image” was that if you remove your header image from My Sites > Themes > Customize > Header Image and upload that image in site logo under My Sites > Themes > Customize > Site Identity then you will be able to see that image above the title and tag line.

Please check this site for reference: https://dummysite390.wordpress.com

Unfortunately, as per your theme limitations, we can text besides your image.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

    Thanks!

Correction: Unfortunately, as per your theme limitations, we can’t place the text besides your image.
