Incorrect links on global dashboard stats page
-
I have a small problem with the stats that perhaps you can help with.
On the dashboard there is a column marked “Top Posts” which in my case has a list of post numbers and counts. Very good. The post number is a link which I presume is supposed to link back to the post itself but mine all seem to point to the same /[blogroot]//. With the “numeric” permalink structure I use, I think it should be /[blogroot]/archives/[post number]/.
Does this indicate a problem at WP.com or with the plugin generating incorrect information and can you suggest how it can be fixed. I can’t find any comparable problem in the forum.

Is your blog hosted at WP.com or is it hosted elsewhere? If it’s hosted here you need to send a Feedback to staff, and do it today as it closes for the weekend. If your blog is hosted elsewhere (as indicated by your use of the word “plugin” which we don’t use here) then you probably need to be at WordPress.org. It’s different software.

As you suspected, it is hosted elsewhere. The problem with this feature is that it is half on my domain as a plugin and half here on WP.com so it is hard to tell where to make enquiries. It could be the plugin sending incorrect information or it could be the stats page interpreting it incorrectly.
Anyway, thanks for your response, I will try posting on the WP.org forum to see if they can help.

I don’t understand the half here half elsewhere bit, but if you’re looking for support for the stats plugin it’s probably best to send an email to support at wordpress dot com. They said WP.com would be supporting the plugin, but we in the forum can’t help you a bit, sorry.

For the benefit of people who find this in the future…
I am told the cause is a bug in PHP 5.2.2 not setting $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA

Rain – in case you hadn’t seen it (and bloggin at wp.com you probably haven’t!) wp.com released a plugin for the download version of WP so that WP.com stats work with self hosted blogs.
It’s a great little feature. The stats are held at your wordpress.com dashboard rather than in your hosted blog. Means that wp.com gets even more traffic…

Yo Collin – {waving}
Both rain and I are well aware of the release of this stats plug-in to those with wordpress.org blogs. http://wordpress.com/blog/2007/05/06/stats-plugin/Speaking for myself I question why on Gob’s green earth bloggers are being directed to this forum for support when they have problems with the plug-in.
At this juncture, it does appear that none of the volunteers answering questions can help them with their difficulties. All we can do and all we have been doing is directing them to contact Mark. This tag team re-direction delays the bloggers in question from getting the support they need expeditiously. Hence the question that arises is: Won’t these bloggers feel they are being given “the run around”?
Another approach would be to have a notice at the stats plug-in download site directing all bloggers who may have problems with the stats plug-in to direct their support questions to Mark from the outset, rather than to the forum.
