Incorrect publish date

I’ve corresponded with the support team on this one and got nowhere, so I’ll hand it over to the group. For about 6 of the last 8 weeks, the official publish dates on my post have been incorrect. I always publish on Tuesdays, but the post date is now often recorded as Sunday or Monday. Can anyone help? I am not a techie, so please give a user friendly answer. Thanks much! –Kim

First thing I would check is your offset from GMT/UTC. Go to settings > general and make sure your timezone is set correctly. This would only typically make on one day +/- difference if it is set wrong, but it is worth checking.

UTC is set correctly for my time zone and date/time as shown in general settings are correct. Also, the final version of the post is published and not an earlier version which would correspond with an earlier date (when I’m still editing).

@freelancetheconsultantsdiary: You go to Posts > Posts, click on the post in question. Then it’s very similar to scheduling a post (same place):

This does unfortunately not help in my case.Please advise.
I want to use the post-scheduling feature to time order post retroactively. Meaning I want to post also about things that happened in the past. If I do that, the posts will appear time ordered under the archive section in the right column. But the actual posts are displayed with the time stamp related to when they were posted, which is not useful.

Read the link airodyssey provided and simply put in a past date on those posts that put them in the order you want them and then publish the post, or if it is already published, change the published date to the past and update the post.

Yes I am aware of that url but when you follow its instructions and view the posts in your blog afterwards the dates and times displayed with your posts still are when you edited them instead of when the event took place.

See also http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/10332 ; the problem has not yet been solved, but the analysis is that the problem only occurs for dates earlier than 1 janunary 1970.

That’s a well-known bug. Staff explained it once, but I can’t find it. Afraid there is no workaround of which I’m aware.
