Incorrect published date
-
It is the second time in a row that I publish a post and the date is incorrect (I think the date shown is that of first draft). For example this one, which I published yesterday:

The message to subscribers is sent out, but of course when I change the date so that the post appears in the right place at the top of the blog, the email is no longer linked to the post.
Has that happened to anybody before?
Thanks
Matteo

Hi Matteo,
In Settings -> General, can you try switching the timezone setting away from your current timezone, click Save Changes, then switch back to your timezone?
As for the post you’ve already published, the date is reflected in the post permalink (URL), so if you change it, the link sent out in the email notification won’t work.
My best suggestion in that case is to go to change the date back to the one that was originally used by using Quick Edit in Posts -> All Posts, then mark that post as sticky in the meantime.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi bryanvillarin
Thanks for your comments. For the recent post, unfortunately I already posted the link in social media by hand (I do not like using publicize) after changing it, so to fix the email notification I would ruin it for far more of my readers..
:-)
But for moving forward, I will try to change the time zone (in fact I should change it anyways because I’ve been living in Norway for 6 months). One idea. Is it possible that this happens when I copy an older post to start a draft for a new post? It occurs to me that for at least this one I did it. Perhaps the other one too. This may mean there is a bug with that feature.
What do you think, is there any way to test it?

You’re welcome!
Is it possible that this happens when I copy an older post to start a draft for a new post? […] is there any way to test it?
On my test blog with a new post draft, I just tested the Copy a Post feature with Writing Helper by copying a post published on 2012-08-16 and saw that the Publish module didn’t reflect that date. (It displayed “Publish immediately“.)
I do not like using publicize.
I’m sorry to hear that. If you have a moment, can you post your thoughts or suggestions in our Ideas forum? Thanks!

Hi bryanvillarin
Thanks for trying the test. So perhaps I just have to make sure I check on the date of every post before I publish to make sure it is OK?
I am sorry, I should have been more specific than just
I do not like using publicize.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with publicize. In fact, it is well done, and great to have that option. BUt I prefere to have more control and customize the social media posts a lot more. I will try to think about anything specific that I may recommend, but in the end it might be just a matter of personal preference, not dislike.

Absolutely. It should say “Immediately” for most cases. :-)

Okay! I can totally respect that. Thanks so much, Matteo!
