Incorrect statistics?

I wonder if you could help clear up some confusion over my stats for me please? My blog is a fairly new one, I have had a number of days where the stats on my blog say there are only 1 or even 0 visitors to my blog yet I have lots of emails every day saying I have x number of like and x number of new followers. What am I missing?!

    Thank you :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

(Just to add, I’ve done a search already but it didn’t seem to give the answer to this, even the one with a link regarding how stats are collated – it didn’t seem to fit this question!)

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as in email and the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat.

Consider this please: If you provide full posts in your feed then what incentive is there for any readers to click into the blog and create a page view stats?

Thank you, that all makes a huge amount of sense! I’ve changed the reader thing as suggested – will see what difference it makes! :)

    Thanks for the quick reply!

You’re welcome and do know that the Reader is just one of several locations that others can click the “like” button without even reading the full post on the blog.

Oh gosh, are there more places?! Mind you, what is the consequence to having low recorded stats? I’ve only been writing the blog for a couple of weeks so this is all a bit new to me! Is there a ranking system or other benefits to getting more recorded views?

Stats are relevant in the context of money making, but if you don’t blog to make money they are indicators of the how many bloggers appreciate what you publish.
