Incorrect theme only in editor

I was trying out a bunch of different themes to see how they looked on my free website. I found one I liked (Button 2), so I customized it as I wanted it, etc. My website now does actually have this theme – however, in the editor (posts or pages), the theme is instead one of the earlier themes that I tried out for a few minutes.

If I switch to a different theme, the editor correctly changes also. If I go back to Button 2, its the same behavior. It’s like I need a reset button for the theme or something. I don’t know what to do from here.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

The block editor was launched late in 2019, and among other things, that editor allows you to see your post with the styling added by your theme, directly in the editor. But it only works with themes that were specifically created or updated to support styles in the editor.

Button-2 predates the editor by a few years, and doesn’t have support for all the editor features, including editor styles, so it won’t show your posts in the editor exactly as they’ll look in the published version with the theme applied.

You can still use the block editor to create posts on your site with this theme. But to see what they’ll look like when published, click the Preview button at the top, and select Preview in new tab to see the full preview:
