Incorrect "Width" value displayed in Browse Themes?
-
This is a problem with browsing themes, not with my blog.
When I select the Filters option in Browse Themes, check the Fixed Width option only, and Apply Filters, I get 161 themes. All of them have “Fixed Width” highlighted on the page that displays the filtered list.
When I do the same thing with either “Flexible Width” or “Responsive Layout” as the only checked filter criterion, I get a result of 29 themes. All of these themes say “Fixed Width”.
In fact, it seems that the filtering is working but the summary information displayed is incorrect. For example, the theme Origin is responsive width. Filtering on responsive displays Origin on the results page, but says it’s fixed. If I go to the page for Origin, it says it really is responsive.
Very confusing!

I think your browser may just be caching the previous filter.
I don’t see either specifically at http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/flexible-width/ or http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-width/

Nope. I’ve tried IE, Chrome, and Firefox. With Firefox I did not search for fixed width first, so there wasn’t anything for it to cache.
There were 2 errors in my previous description. One is that I said filtering on responsive and on flexible each returned 29. That’s not correct. They return different numbers of themes. This is an indication that the filtering is working but the information displayed is correct.
The second error is that I suggested that the width info displayed on the results page is the only thing that’s incorrect. In fact, all of the themes in the result have the same values displayed for all of their characteristics. So there are errors all over the place.
I started using the filtering again after watching the video on picking a WordPress theme. I’m disappointed to find you recommending a feature that works so poorly. It’s not up to WordPress’s usual standards.
As for the two pages you reference, they do not show the summary info I’m talking about, when you first go to them. If you go to one of them, click on the “Filters” button, then click “Apply Filters” without changing anything, you see the incorrect info.
If you want any more details we can talk about a price for my time.
